Assessing STI/HIV Services Survey (ASHSS)

The ASHSS project is a community-based needs assessment of American India adults at risk for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in South Dakota. It includes an assessment of attitudes and personal risk and knowledge of STIs/HIV as well as the estimated prevalence of participation in preventive services.

This project serves as a basis for establishing triba/inter-tribal health priorities and policy development. Findings from the study will be used to enhance an understanding of risk and testing behaviors among AI/AN and to develop and evaluate STI/HIV prevention programs.
